Health Psychologist
Dr Deborah Lancastle (PHD) is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered and British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Health Psychologist with special interest in the psychosocial aspects of women’s reproductive health.
Currently a Principal Lecturer at the University of South Wales, Deborah brings considerable research experience relating to women’s reproductive health and the impact of problems on their wellbeing. She specialises in infertility, ovarian cancer screening, uterine fibroids, and heavy menstrual bleeding. Deborah feels it’s vital that we understand how these health challenges affect women physically and emotionally.
Her extensive experience in women’s reproductive health – and the psychological principles around coping with these experiences – means she’s well-placed to advise across a range of women’s reproductive health concerns, including menopause. Deborah is also Director of Studies for a KESS PhD student who is working with Health & Her to develop and evaluate our Menopause Symptom Tracker.
Three things Deborah wants you to know as you approach menopause:
- You are not alone and friends, colleagues, and family members of a similar age are likely to be experiencing similar things – they may also be unsure about whether it is appropriate or ‘welcome’ to talk about their experience. Perhaps you could be the one to start the conversation!
- That there are lots of solutions to difficult menopause symptoms and that it might pay to try a number – try not to feel you are being a nuisance if you return to your GP because you need more help.
