Ruth Devlin

Menopause coach and advocate

After experiencing an array of perimenopausal symptoms herself and realising the lack of consistent information available at the time, Ruth Devlin decided things had to change. Teaming up with like-minded women from healthcare backgrounds, she co-founded Let’s Talk Menopause to raise awareness about the menopause, demystifying it and most importantly, providing easy access to information and support.

Let’s Talk Menopause provides women with accurate, evidence-based information and support regarding the menopause, enabling them to make more informed choices about the management of their menopause and provide a better post menopausal quality of life.

Ruth herself has extensively researched the menopause in addition to attending the RCN-accredited menopause courses. She is a member of the British Menopause Society and has liaised with menopause specialists to establish what women really want, and need, to know about the menopause. It’s no surprise, then, that she has appeared on everything from Radio 4s Woman’s Hour to the BBC Insider’s Guide to the Menopause documentary with Kirsty Wark.

She also has a wickedly funny turn of phrase, a great sense of humour, and a frank, straight-talking approach that’s just what many of us appreciate when it comes to talking about more embarrassing situations and symptoms. Ruth is currently working on a guide to menopause for men, which is sure to be an eye-opener (and perhaps a relationship saviour?).

Keep your eyes peeled, we’ll be stocking it as soon as it’s published!

Three things Ruth wants you to know as you approach menopause:

  1. Every woman goes through the menopause – with 80% suffering from debilitating symptoms.
  2. Psychological symptoms are extremely common they are just not talked about enough.
  3. HRT is much safer than women realise – you are much more likely to develop cancer through excessive alcohol intake or being obese.
